Welcome to the Psychology Clinic!
The UT Psychological Clinic is a university-based agency that provides out-patient psychological services to residents of the Knoxville area.
For the past 50 years, graduate student clinicians at the Psychological Clinic at the University of Tennessee have offered quality mental health services to students and residents of the surrounding community at affordable, sliding-scale fees.
Appointments
The first visit is a "get acquainted" session during which the client learns more about the Clinic's services and the staff learns more about the client. Together, the staff and client plan the treatment process and arrange for subsequent visits, if necessary. In many cases, psychological testing is recommended in order to help the therapist and client better understand the problem. An initial appointment may be scheduled by telephone @ 974-2161, or in person at the Clinic, Room 227, Austin Peay Building.
Services
Clients of all ages and socio-economic groups, from Knoxville and the surrounding communities, are eligible for treatment at the Clinic. Most clients are self-referred, but we also receive referrals from other mental health agencies, private and public social service agencies, physicians, and other professionals. Services are provided by Doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology program under the supervision of fully-licensed clinical psychologists.

Fees
The client is charged a nominal $25.00 fee for the first meeting. Fees for additional services vary with the income of the family and the number of dependents. Each person is expected to pay according to his or her financial resources.
Flexible payment schedules may be arranged so cost need not be a reason for not receiving services.
